Job summary

Texas Orthopedics, a division of OrthoLoneStar, is hiring a Surgery Scheduler/Triage to coordinate clinical care outside of clinic visits and ensure high-quality patient service. You will schedule surgeries, imaging, and pre-op activities, while handling authorizations and maintaining strict EMR documentation.

Ideal candidates have 2 years as a medical assistant, experience in surgery scheduling, and CMA certification (preferred).

Qualifications

• Two years as a medical assistant with hospital, home health, or office experience; orthopedics preferred.
• Two years of surgery scheduling preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, document, and handle in-coming calls.
• Schedule surgeries, imaging, and follow-up appointments.
• Submit medical records and obtain pre-authorization as needed.
• Coordinate with providers to ensure medically necessary treatments.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation for authorizations and dates.
• Assist with prior-author processes and patient cost estimates.
• Issue prescriptions and orders per physician instruction and educate patients.
• Ensure timely responses to patient inquiries and timely lab result entry.
• Coordinate training of physician preferences with the Surgery Coordinator.
