Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in surgery scheduling.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Medical Coding.
• Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures, ensuring appropriate allocation of operating rooms, equipment, and staff.
• Coordinate surgery dates with patients, physicians, and hospital staff.
• Consider physician’s priorities, patient and equipment/special needs when scheduling procedures and post-operative appointments.
• Interface with vendor staff to ensure equipment on site for procedures, including scheduling with contracted providers.
• Enter notes/special instructions needed for scheduling in the EMR.
• Provide accurate, detailed information to patients regarding time and location of scheduled procedures.
• Respond to questions from patients regarding scheduling changes and cancellations promptly.
• Resolve scheduling conflicts or issues efficiently.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in handling patient information.
• Other duties as assigned.
