Lexington Clinic in Lexington, KY seeks a Surgery Scheduler/Precertification Specialist to schedule surgeries, gather complete patient information, secure physician orders, and verify reimbursement sources. You will be cross-trained in front desk tasks and report to the Patient Care Manager.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years in a medical setting, and solid computer skills. Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding and basic insurance billing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of two years experience in the medical field, preferably ENT training.
• Possess moderate computer knowledge and strong planning and organizational skills.
• Good communication skills and working knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
• Basic knowledge of insurance billing requirements.

SUMMARY:

The Surgery Scheduler/Precertification Specialist schedules surgeries, collecting complete, accurate information; securing appropriate physician orders and verifying reimbursement sources. The Scheduler will be cross-trained in other functions of the front office and reports directly to the Patient Care Manger.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of two years experience in the medical field, preferably ENT training, posses moderate computer knowledge, excellent planning and organization skills, good communication skills, working knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding; basic knowledge of insurance billing requirements.

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:

Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift materials weighing up to 25 pounds; articulate speech; telephone and computer work.
