Animas Surgical Hospital in Durango, CO is seeking a dedicated Surgery Scheduler to ensure proper scheduling of operative procedures and accurate clinical and insurance coding for surgeries. The role involves coordinating with physicians, patients, and staff, managing OR utilization, and handling front office duties including insurance verifications and patient registration.

The position requires a High School Diploma and healthcare office experience, with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Office experience in a healthcare environment, medical terminology, ability to multitask and prioritization skills preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, and utilization of website search engines.
• Demonstrates knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and schedule surgical cases by collaborating with patients, families, staff, and providers offices and the greater community to schedule surgeries, pre-op physicals, and surgical planning testing.
• Interacts with patients, physician offices, and other staff providing timely, accurate, and responsive information.
• Coordinates with hospital vendors regarding surgical implants and equipment.
• Ensures efficient written and verbal communication to various stakeholders.
• Identifies scheduling barriers and implements solutions to improve scheduling results.
• Confirms all equipment scheduling needs including but not limited to: c-arm, hemasource, pathology, sterile surgical equipment and special order supplies.
• Monitor and maintain bed calendar, ensuring appropriate bed scheduling for accurate census allocation.
• Maintains professional, supportive interactions with patients and staff.
