Job summary

Duly Health and Care in Glen Ellyn, IL is seeking a scheduling coordinator to support surgical procedures. You will greet patients, verify information, coordinate pre-op testing, and serve as a single point of contact for internal staff and external inquiries.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of surgery scheduling, telephone, computer and customer service experience.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize.
  • Must posses time management skills.
  • Medical terminology (verbal and written).
  • CPT and ICD-9 coding knowledge.
  • Referral process knowledge.
  • Ability to learn new computer programs.
  • Professional conduct with customers, physicians and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and manage scheduling by phone or in person.
  • Coordinate pre-op testing and verify patient information.
  • Serve as single point of contact for inquiries about scheduled procedures.
  • Schedule and reschedule pre-op labs and testing as needed.
  • Confirm procedures with patients and explain prep instructions.
  • Prepare paperwork for referral coordinators and facilities.
  • Verify daily doctor schedules and distribute to staff.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and assist billing with charges.
  • Cover co-workers as needed and track case volume.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Greet patients in a friendly manner whether on the phone or in person..

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal physicians and with scheduling staff at facilities.
  • Verify patient personal and insurance information – coordinate pre-op testing per insurance.
  • Single point-of-contact for internal staff and external inquiries for all scheduled procedures.
  • Schedule and/or reschedule pre-op lab and/or other testing before procedures and surgeries if necessary.
  • Contact patient to confirm procedure/surgery.
  • Explain and verify proper prep instructions with patients, route to nurse if appropriate.
  • Prepare all essential paperwork for referral coordinator and facilities.
  • Verify daily doctor’s schedules, print and distribute to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain the strictest patient confidentiality.
  • Work with billing staff to ensure all procedures are charged.
  • Cover/fill-in for co-workers as needed.
  • Track case volume and direct cases to facilities per direction of management team
Experience and Qualifications
  • Medical terminology, verbal and written.
  • CPT and ICD-9 coding.
  • Referral process.
  • Must have the ability to learn new computer programs.
  • Act professionally towards customers, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize.
  • Must posses time management skills.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years prior surgery scheduling, telephone, computer and customer service experience.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $16.30-24.50/hour, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
