Job summary

USPI El Paso Center for Gastro & Endo is seeking a motivated Scheduler to join our team. We have 1 OR room and 3 treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in gastroenterology.

Position requires weekdays only – no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day. The Scheduler will plan and schedule for surgical and related appointments, supporting credentialing processes

Qualifications

  • Two years of direct experience with scheduling surgeries.
  • High School education and/or equivalent.
  • Administrative assistant duties preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgeries and coordinate with doctors, anesthesia, lab and insurance.
  • Maintain master schedule to align doctors, surgery center, and office.
  • Enter patient chart details and procedure information into the system.
  • Arrange pre-certifications/referrals with Insurance Coordinator.
  • Provide administrative support across front office and other duties.
  • Interact professionally with patients of all ages.
  • Assist with infection control and safety procedures.

Job Summary

Plans and schedules for surgical and related appointments for doctors. Manages certain functions related to credentialing of professional staff members for the facility by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities
  • Scheduling
  • Maintains master schedule to ensure coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab and insurance carriers.
  • Schedule surgeries, coordinate schedule between Surgery Center and doctors' offices.
  • Gather all detailed information for the patient's chart, such as type of procedure, supplies, special equipment required, insurance information, etc., and enters all patient information in computer system.
  • Schedule all surgical anesthesia services required according to doctor preference and availability.
  • Assure that pre-certification/referrals are in order for Insurance Coordinator.
  • Complete billing packets for CSO on a daily basis.
  • Confers with OR Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse and/or Administrator to determine status of scheduled surgeries. Alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Work closely with the Administrator and CSO Credentialing person when maintaining approved privileges for each physician or as documents are updated, etc.
  • Provide relief for the front business office, receptionist and all other business functions, as needed.
  • Cross-trained to fill in and effectively perform all other job descriptions.
  • Interact appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
  • Initiate safe practices and be knowledgeable about current center policies and procedures. Specific procedures and practices related to pain management, abuse and neglect, sentinel events and response, variance reporting, response to sentinel event alerts, participation in root cause analysis and other key policies and procedures are required.
  • Assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participate in emergency preparedness drills.
  • Follow all equipment safety guidelines and be personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care of all business equipment.
Qualifications
  • High School education and/or equivalent.
  • Must have at least two years direct experience with scheduling surgeries.
  • Administrative assistant duties preferred.
