Robson Eye Institute/Ascend Vision Partners in Florida is seeking a Full Time Surgery Scheduler to support surgical scheduling, referrals, and patient care coordination. You will liaise between staff, clinicians, and patients to ensure smooth workflow and timely patient access to procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in surgery scheduling, ophthalmology preferred.
  • CPSS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains demographic information for verification.
  • Schedules ophthalmic surgical procedures per physician direction.
  • Obtains referrals and required medical clearances.
  • Explains consent forms and collects signatures.
  • Collects co-pays and upcoming payments.
  • Processes faxes, scans documents into charts and forwards for review.
  • Sends scheduling updates to referring physicians.
  • Communicates with clinical/optical teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible to provide the highest quality patient care in scheduling all surgical procedures, obtaining referrals and medical clearances, and computer task management. A strong communication skill set is required for communications between staff, management and patients served. Though the days may be long and busy, they find the results to be well worth the effort.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Obtains demographic information, including insurance and running for verification
  • Schedules all ophthalmic surgical procedures per physician direction.
  • Obtains referrals for procedure and required medical clearances.
  • Explains consent forms and obtain patient signatures
  • Collects co-pays, and upcoming payments as necessary.
  • Processes incoming faxes, scan documents into patient charts, and send for medical review.
  • Sends office notes/scheduling updates to referring physicians
  • Communicates frequently with clinical/optical teams
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience:
  • High School Graduate, or equivalent education
  • Minimum of two (2) years' of surgery scheduling or related experience, ophthalmology experience preferred.
  • Certified Patient Service Specialist (CPSS) Certification, preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, warm demeanor)
  • Ability to master ophthalmology terminologyUnderstand HIPAA and can maintain confidentiality
