Robson Eye Institute/Ascend Vision Partners in Clearwater, FL is seeking a Full Time Surgery Scheduler to support ophthalmology procedures and patient care coordination across our integrated eye care network. You will work with clinicians and staff to verify demographics, schedule surgeries, obtain referrals and medical clearances, and manage communications with patients and referring physicians.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of surgery scheduling or related experience (ophthalmology preferred).
  • Certified Patient Service Specialist (CPSS) Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains demographic information, including insurance, for verification.
  • Schedules ophthalmic surgical procedures per physician direction.
  • Obtains referrals for procedures and required medical clearances.
  • Explains consent forms and obtains patient signatures.
  • Collects co-pays and upcoming payments as necessary.
  • Processes incoming faxes, scans documents into patient charts, and sends for medical review.
  • Sends office notes and scheduling updates to referring physicians.
  • Communicates frequently with clinical and optical teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible to provide the highest quality patient care in scheduling all surgical procedures, obtaining referrals and medical clearances, and computer task management. A strong communication skill set is required for communications between staff, management and patients served. Though the days may be long and busy, they find the results to be well worth the effort.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Requirements

Education & Experience:
  • High School Graduate, or equivalent education
  • Minimum of two (2) years' of surgery scheduling or related experience, ophthalmology experience preferred.
  • Certified Patient Service Specialist (CPSS) Certification, preferred.
