Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
• RN certification and license are required (RN).
• Minimum one year of nursing experience; not limited to surgery experience.
• New hires without direct surgery experience must participate in OR Cohort.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and peri-operative care.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, briefings, time-outs and debriefings per policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies during care.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team including providers and surgeons.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes and the care provided.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up.
