Northwest Tucson Surgery Center is seeking a full-time Registrar to support the Surgery department. The role handles patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification with a focus on accuracy and excellent service.

The position requires 0-2 years in healthcare settings, familiarity with EHR systems, and strong interpersonal skills to assist patients and families throughout the registration process.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families to address questions and provide courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers patients by obtaining accurate demographic information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and captures correct health insurance details, securing necessary authorizations.
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable.
• Communicates operative reports daily to appropriate physician offices.
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation to ensure completion of patient medical records.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and assists with resolving insurance-related questions.
• Documents consent forms when patients cannot sign and notes if a family member signs.
