Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest is seeking a Certified Obstetric Surgical Technologist (PRN) to join our obstetric and surgical teams. You will scrub and assist in OB procedures, prep the surgical suite, and support the team with on-call rotations and high-quality patient care.

As part of HCA Healthcare, you’ll have access to training, mentorship, and a clear path for growth while delivering compassionate care to mothers and newborns in a busy North Houston facility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on department need.
• Operates sterilizer and other patient care equipment after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and communicates issues to the appropriate person.
• Assists with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning over the OR, and inventory.

What you will do in this role:

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on the need of the department.
• Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and goals, and communicates issues, whether actual or potential, to appropriate person in the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in performing other duties, whether assigned or not, such as assisting with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning-over the OR, and assisting with scheduled supply inventory.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience is preferred.
