Job summary

Piedmont Walton Hospital is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to support the Operating Room team. The role involves assisting physicians during surgery across multiple specialties, functioning as a clinical specialist, and maintaining surgical areas as needed.

You will operate under RN supervision and contribute to high-quality perioperative care. Required education includes a Surgical Technology program and HS diploma or GED, plus BCLS certification at hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program required.
• BSCLS certification required or upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient care by assisting physician during surgery in the OR for multiple specialties.
• Serve as a clinical specialist across service lines and maintain surgical specialties as needed.
• Act as a resource and contribute to global surgical endeavours within the department.

The OR team is composed of RNs, surgical technologists, CSFAs, and procedure support technicians, with staffing aligned to AORN standards to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient care.

Responsibilities:

Facilitating patient care by assisting the physician during surgery in the Operating Room (OR) for multiple specialties, performing technical and some patient care duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Functions as a clinical specialist across numerous service specialty lines. Assumes additional responsibilities for maintaining surgical specialties as necessary and serves as a resource. Functions on a more global level and is more involved in detailed surgical endeavors related to the surgery department.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program Required

Work Experience

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist Required or
• 3 years of surgical tech experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
