Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Dallas, TX office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 3+ years of experience to join the Surface Water team. This is not a remote position.

You will work on surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and design tasks, with mentorship and exposure to plan production and client interactions. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with surface water modeling and/or design.
• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree (Bachelor's or Master's).
• Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
• Experience building and calibrating Hydraulic/Hydrology models such as ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), SWMM.
• Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS; AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation a plus.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
• Ability to work independently and as a team.
• Python programming experience desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a dynamic team on surface water projects including modeling and design.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, design analyses, and flood studies.
• Collaborate with plans production, client interactions, and project financials.
• Support green infrastructure planning and resiliency assessments.
