V2X Inc. is hiring a Surface Prep Technician (2nd shift) to support the Modernization and Sustainment site in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The role involves removing coatings, blending imperfections, and preparing surfaces for subsequent processing with attention to adhesion and finish quality. Qualified candidates read and interpret prints and specs, possess knowledge of metals and plastics, and can work with abrasive materials and coating removal methods.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required and ability to obtain/maintain secret clearance.
• Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, routings, and specifications.
• Knowledge of metals, plastics and other materials and their reactions to surface prep operations.
• Familiarity with abrasive materials and coating removal methods.

Responsibilities

• Remove coatings, excess material, and surface defects using abrasive wheels, belts, and tools.
• Blend surface imperfections for uniform appearance.
• Prepare surfaces for subsequent processes with proper adhesion and finish quality.
• Smooth surfaces and achieve specified finishes with appropriate techniques/equipment.
• Select abrasive materials and tools based on material, finish, and coating removal needs.
• Replace worn abrasive materials and tools as needed.
• Examine parts for finish quality and conformance to specs.
• May be designated by material or process type.
