Job summary

V2X in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking a Surface Prep Technician (2nd shift) to support the Modernization and Sustainment site.

You will remove coatings, blend surfaces, and prepare parts, with emphasis on adherence to drawings and specifications. The role requires HS Diploma or GED and the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, process routings, and specifications.
• Knowledge of various metals, plastics and their reactions to surface prep operations.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Removes coatings, excess material, and surface defects from items using revolving abrasive wheels, belts, and other specialized tools.
• Blends surface imperfections and coatings to achieve a uniform appearance.
• Prepares surfaces for subsequent processes, ensuring proper adhesion and finish quality.
• Smooths surfaces and produces specified finishes by using appropriate techniques and equipment.
• Selects abrasive materials, tools, and equipment according to material type and finish requirements.
• Replaces worn abrasive materials and tools.
• Examines parts for acceptability of finish and conformance to specifications.
• May be designated according to material or process performed.
