Job summary

V2X Inc. is seeking a skilled Surface Preparation Technician to remove coatings and surface defects, blend imperfections, and prepare parts for subsequent processes at our Indianapolis facility.

The role emphasizes uniform finishes and precise adhesion, using a range of abrasive tools and techniques. The ideal candidate will interpret prints and specifications, understand material reactions to prep methods, and maintain quality by inspecting finishes for conformance.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets prints, drawings, process routings, and specifications.
• Thorough knowledge of metals, plastics, and other materials and their reactions to surface preparation operations.
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, abrasive materials, coating removal methods, and blending techniques.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Removes coatings, excess material, and surface defects using revolving abrasive wheels, belts, and other specialized tools.
• Blends surface imperfections and coatings to achieve a uniform appearance.
• Prepares surfaces for subsequent processes, ensuring proper adhesion and finish quality.

• Replaces worn abrasive materials and tools.
• Examines parts for acceptability of finish and conformance to specifications.
