Job summary

Boart Longyear Ltd. seeks a Surface RC Driller Assistant to support drilling crews with semi-skilled tasks and equipment operation.

You will haul supplies, mix drilling fluids, sample cores, and assist in rigging, with extensive travel across western states and long shift cycles. We offer paid training (MSHA, First Aid), strong overtime and per diem, a clear progression path from Driller Assistant to Field Supervisor, and company-funded PPE and boot allowance.

Qualifications

• Willing to travel to worksites across multiple states (ID, OR, MT, NV, UT, AZ, CO).
• Able to commute long distances (300+ miles) for shifts.
• Willing to work in remote locations and in all-weather elements.
• Willing to work 12+ hour shifts for 14–20 days at a time.
• Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Must pass background and drug screening.
• Must pass a Physical Functional Fitness Evaluation.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year drilling experience or related roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide semi-skilled labor assistance to drilling crews and operate various equipment.
• Haul supplies to and from the drill site and perform material handling.
• Mix drilling fluids and manage rod connections to drill string.
• Collect samples and label bags/cores in numeric order.
• Build chip trays and assist in rigging up/down at new locations.
• Conduct routine site and mast inspections and pre-shift checks on equipment.
