Job summary

SiPhox Health in Burlington, MA is seeking a Process Scientist with surface chemistry expertise to drive immunoassay development on our at‑home diagnostics platform. You will design surface chemistries, troubleshoot fouling, and collaborate with product, engineering, and manufacturing teams to transfer processes into scalable manufacturing.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
• 6+ years of relevant industry experience in surface chemistry, materials science, or biomolecular interfaces in life sciences or diagnostics.
• Deep expertise in surface chemistry, polymer chemistry, and biomolecule–surface interactions.
• Strong publication and presentation record, with contributions to patents or novel methodologies.
• Ability to work independently in experimental planning, execution, and data interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evaluate novel surface chemistry approaches for immunoassay applications.
• Design and evaluate surface chemistry on microfluidic and lab‑on‑chip devices, considering geometry and flow effects on performance.
• Troubleshoot fouling and non‑specific binding issues.
• Lead product development efforts, including experimental design, prototyping, testing, and data analysis.
• Transfer surface chemistry solutions from research to product development and manufacturing in collaboration with process teams.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to invention disclosures and patent work.
• Prepare high‑quality reports and presentations summarizing findings for decision making.
