Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking an EVS Educator to lead staff training, develop curricula, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards across its Environmental Services teams. The role focuses on onboarding, ongoing education, and performance improvement to promote safe, clean environments for patients and visitors.

The Educator will deliver hands-on instruction, align policies with industry best practices, and travel to-site within OhioHealth’ s footprint to support education initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 4 years EVS-related experience in a formal or informal leadership role.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Joint Commission, HFAP and Infection Control regulations governing hospital operations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities; able to work in a complex matrix environment.

Responsibilities

  • Staff training and education; deliver initial and annual compliance education via OhioHealth University.
  • Provide hands-on instruction and demonstration of EVS tasks and new processes.
  • Develop and update EVS curriculum and policies to align with industry best practices.
  • Ensure accreditation, regulatory compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission, HFAP, and site-specific requirements.
  • Care Site travel to multiple OhioHealth locations for education.

Job Description Summary:

The Support Services -EVS Educator-facilitates new departmental orientation and continuing staff education for OhioHealth EVS associates throughout the system. The incumbent will support system level education activities through the development and revision of departmental policies/procedures, as well as assist in the design of education based on EVS standards, regulatory requirements, and OhioHealth policy. The Support Services -EVS Educator will need to work effectively within OhioHealth EVS in a highly matrixed fashion with key internal and external stakeholders to the EVS department. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the educational activities for EVS associates that promote exceptional care for OhioHealth's patients and visitors.

Staff Training and Education Supporting associate completion of initial and annual compliance education ICE/AC e via OhioHealth University Providing hands on instruction and demonstration of routine EVS associate responsibilities, including but not limited to discharge, occupied room cleaning, and terminal cleaning; Providing remedial and continuous performance training for associates as new processes are developed and or modified based on organizational needs Providing instruction to EVS associates to support the use of CareConnect Epi c applications

Curriculum and policy development Ensure EVS curriculum and policies are updated throughout the year and consistent with industry best practices

Accreditation, Compliance, and Regulatory Research OSHA, Joint Commission, Department of Health, Program/Site specific accreditation requirements Ensure EVS curriculum maintains full compliance with all federal, state, Joint Commission, and Program/Site specific accreditation agency requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required)

Hospital/Healthcare administration, business administration, or related field; Or High School diploma or GED and 4 years of EVS related Experience in a formal or informal leadership role; Or equivalent combination of and Experience . Instructional/educational Experience Functional ability to communicate in non-English language Thorough understanding of hospital and support services operations Understanding of surgical and procedural techniques Requirements by OSHA, Joint Commission, HFAP, Infection Control, and other agencies that govern the operations of the hospital Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to communicate complex issues and strategies. Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams and in complex matrix relationships. Excellent relationship and team skills. Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Effective use of personal computer technology for generating reports, trending information and creating presentations. Proven ability to work with teams and build morale Experience with cultural diverse workforces 3 - 5 years EVS and healthcare Experience 1- 3 years formal or informal leadership Experience
