Job summary

Flour Bakery + Cafe in Boston seeks an experienced Support Prep team member for a full-time role in our Seaport production kitchen. You will execute daily prep items, assist chefs, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly.

You will prioritize tasks, ensure ingredient quality, and communicate timing issues to the shift lead. Daily duties include following pastry and savory prep recipes, supporting coworkers, and helping with inventory and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach and lift ≤50 lbs.
• Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
• Professional kitchen experience preferred.
• Excellent attendance, reliability and communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for coworkers to ensure prep is done efficiently.
• Follow recipes and techniques in pastry and savory prep.
• Check ingredient quality from vendor and Mom test.
• Communicate timing issues and adjust workload as needed.
• Inventory finished products and write prep lists.
• Maintain an orderly and clean kitchen and assist with cleanup.

Flour Bakery + Cafe is looking for experienced Support Prep staff for a full time position at our production kitchen in the Seaport!

In this position, you will complete Support prep list items on the daily production list as written by BK Production Support Chef, BK Savory Production Chefs or BK Savory Production Shift Leads. Prioritize items each day based based on which loop the items travel and communicate any issues with timing. Assist all co-workers within the kitchen and adjust workload when necessary.

Day-to-day Performance Expectations:

• Provide support for coworkers in order to ensure prep is being done efficiently.
• Follow all recipes and techniques in pastry and savory food preparation.
• Be another set of eyes on ingredient quality from vendor and overall Mom test
• Provide constructive feedback as needed
• Handle food and clean stations per standard sanitation procedures.
• Assist with kitchen upkeep and deep cleaning tasks when production list is complete
• Assist with checking in ordering from BK
• Help maintain an orderly and clean kitchen
• Check-in each day when you arrive and leave with the Production Shift Leader or Production Chef
• Inventory finished product and write appropriate prep lists that meet all finished good pars
• Prioritize items each day based on which loop the items travel and communicate any issues with timing.
• All other duties as assigned

Compensation:

This starting pay rate for this position is $18 per hour, with a total pay range of $18-$23.55.
