Title: Support Equipment Operator Trainee - Site Services

Where You Will Work

Climax Molybdenum is the world’s leading producer of molybdenum and has a long, successful history of doing business safely, efficiently and responsibly. We have operated in Colorado for more than 100 years, with mining and milling operations near Leadville, Kremmling and Empire. Our Climax Mine is located between Frisco and Leadville – the seat of Lake County and the highest incorporated city in the United States.

Employees who are required to work on-site are eligible for a $1,450 monthly housing allowance, provided they meet program guidelines.

This position is located at the Climax Mine site off of CO-91 between Silverthorne, CO and Leadville, CO. This is a rural, alpine area approximately two hours from the Denver metropolitan area. The mine is at an altitude of approximately 10,200 feet. In the winter, the average high temperature is 31 degrees and the average low is 3 degrees. In the summer, the average high temperature is 71 degrees and the average low is 38 degrees. The average snowfall in Lake/Chafee counties is in excess of 200 inches per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Semi-skilled employees will support the Operations group and be trained to operate heavy equipment safely under various road and weather conditions.
  • Operation of heavy equipment - haul truck, water truck, rubber tire dozer, grader, loader, cable handler, locomotive, etc.
  • Communication through computer dispatching system or two-way radio.
  • Pre-shift inspection of equipment.
  • Equipment preventative maintenance such as adding fuel, coolant, oil and air as necessary.
  • Mine support activities.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) months experience in one of the following areas:
    • Mining/Manufacturing
    • Industrial Operations
    • Commercial Construction
    • Commercial Landscaping
    • Commercial Agriculture
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $21.00 - $27.50 hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
