Job Description

The Policy Rating Technician is responsible for general clerical duties within the Personal Lines Underwriting Department in support of the Underwriting Operations. This includes processing applications for insurance, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, audits, binders, and related materials following specific procedures and guidelines. The role also involves overseeing receptionist duties, including adhering to corporate security measures for visitors and vendors, clerical functions, and documenting visitor traffic. These duties are performed under general supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Rate and/or code new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and perform other policyholder service functions.
  • Accurately enter business in the company portal and maintain policy files properly.
  • Communicate by phone or letter with agents and company departments.
  • Provide technical assistance in support of the Underwriting Operation.
  • Interpret and apply verbal and written instructions, manuals, and rates.
  • Prepare requests for reports from information or service bureaus.
  • Answer all inbound operator calls and handle/process all returned mail.
  • Screen all visitors and manage drop-offs/deliveries.
  • Maintain and order office supplies, keeping areas stocked.
  • Manage company pool vehicle keys, gas cards, and log requests/scheduling.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Typing skills above average.
  • Ability to work as a team with diverse individuals.
  • Problem-solving skills and effective time and schedule management.
