Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist to oversee day-to-day execution of supply chain activities, maintain inventory levels, and support efficient manufacturing operations. The role collaborates with customers, suppliers, production, purchasing, quality, logistics, and other teams to ensure on-time delivery and optimal material flow.

You should have a solid understanding of MRP, EDI, SAP, and lean manufacturing, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years experience in supply chain or manufacturing environment.
  • Automotive or high-volume manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple departments.
  • Knowledge of MRP, EDI, ASN, JIT, and lean principles.
  • SAP experience and proficiency with Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review customer orders, forecasts, EDI releases, and delivery requirements.
  • Process daily customer requirements and ensure accurate information is reflected in the ERP/MRP system.
  • Support development and adjustment of production schedules based on customer demand, available inventory, capacity, and material availability.
  • Monitor finished goods, work-in-process, raw material, and component inventory to identify potential shortages or excess inventory.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure raw materials and components are available to support the production plan.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Logistics, and Purchasing to resolve supply or delivery risks.
  • Support daily and weekly production planning activities, including build plans, shipping plans, and inventory targets.
  • Monitor customer backlog, past-due requirements, inventory coverage, and potential delivery risks.
  • Support ramp-up, ramp-down, new product launches, and changes in customer demand.
  • Coordinate shipping requirements, including BOLs, shipping documentation, labels, ASN processing, and transportation arrangements as required.
  • Ensure successful EDI transactions and support resolution of EDI, ASN, or system-related discrepancies.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound material flow and escalation potential supply chain disruptions.
  • Support inventory accuracy through reconciliation, cycle counting, and investigation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Analyze supply chain data and KPIs related to customer demand, production performance, inventory, material availability, and delivery performance.
  • Maintain accurate supply chain information and transactions within SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory reduction, delivery performance, productivity, cost, and process efficiency.
  • Support development and maintenance of supply chain reports, dashboards, and action plans.
  • Perform other supply chain-related duties as assigned.

Description

The Supply Chain Specialist supports the day-to-day execution of supply chain activities to ensure customer requirements are met while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and supporting efficient manufacturing operations.

This position works across customer demand management, production planning, inventory control, purchasing coordination, logistics, and customer service. The role serves as a key link between customers, suppliers, production, purchasing, quality, logistics, and other internal teams.

The position requires a good understanding of MRP, EDI, SAP, inventory management, production planning, JIT manufacturing, shipping, and overall supply chain processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Requirements

  • Knowledge of MRP, EDI, ASN, JIT, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • SAP experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with SAP or another ERP/MRP system preferred.
  • Ability to identify supply chain risks and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in supply chain, production planning, materials management, logistics, purchasing, customer service, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Automotive or high-volume manufacturing experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to work periodically in a manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds when required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
