Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of procurement or supply chain experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
  • Create, issue, and maintain accurate purchase orders promptly.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers via assessments and on-site visits.
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Expedite deliveries, coordinate urgent material needs, and obtain quotations.
  • Serve as liaison between suppliers and internal departments on POs and schedules.
  • Track POs and communicate status and delays proactively.
  • Work with Receiving to resolve material discrepancies and nonconforming shipments.
  • Collaborate with Finance to resolve invoice issues.
  • Coordinate RMAs and returns, ensuring proper shipping documentation.
  • Analyze purchasing trends and supplier performance for cost reductions.
  • Support continuous improvement and ensure compliance with procurement policies.

Job Summary:

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for managing complex procurement activities, negotiating supplier contracts, and cultivating strategic vendor relationships to ensure the timely, cost-effective acquisition of materials. This role drives cost-reduction initiatives, optimizes inventory levels, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain a reliable supply chain that supports uninterrupted production. The Supply Chain Specialist also monitors supplier performance, mitigates supply risks, and identifies opportunities for continuous process improvement to enhance operational efficiency and overall business performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
  • Create, issue, and maintain accurate purchase orders in a timely manner.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers through supplier assessments, surveys, and on-site visits.
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and ensure supplier compliance with company and customer requirements.
  • Expedite critical deliveries, coordinate emergency material requirements, and obtain supplier quotations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal departments regarding purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supply issues.
  • Track purchase orders and proactively communicate order status and potential delays.
  • Partner with the Receiving department to resolve material discrepancies and nonconforming shipments.
  • Work closely with the finance department to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
  • Obtain Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) and coordinate product returns and shipping documentation.
  • Analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance, and inventory data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with company quality standards and procurement policies.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience negotiating supplier contracts and managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work around industrial machinery for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
