Job summary

Movement Search and Delivery in Charlotte, NC seeks a Supply Chain Manager to own procurement, inventory, and logistics across multiple locations (NC, NY, VT, SC, OR). The role leads strategy and execution in a make-to-order manufacturing environment, delivering hard-dollar savings and measurable P&L impact.

You will negotiate with vendors, manage supplier performance, implement inventory controls in Acumatica, and drive cross-functional collaboration with operations and sales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field — or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or senior individual contributor role.
• Manufacturing background — custom, make-to-order, or project-based manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Proven procurement experience: contract negotiation, vendor management, and strategic sourcing.
• Strong inventory management background — stocking strategy, ERP discipline, and working capital management.
• Financial and analytical fluency — able to build should-cost models, calculate and defend PPV, and validate savings directly with Finance.
• Comfortable operating in a multi-site environment with regular travel to all facilities

Responsibilities

• Own all direct and indirect purchasing across all operating locations.
• Develop and manage vendor relationships; negotiate contracts, pricing, and lead times for raw materials (rod, bar, plate, fastener blanks), consumables, and indirect supplies.
• Establish and maintain an approved vendor list; conduct regular supplier performance reviews and qualify alternate sources to reduce single-source exposure and cost risk.
• Deliver Finance-validated hard-dollar savings against an annual PPV target — realized on actual purchase orders, not quoted discounts.
• Lead annual supplier reviews and negotiate pricing agreements in alignment with budget targets.
• Set and maintain inventory stocking strategies across all sites — balancing working capital efficiency against service level and production needs.
• Own raw material and finished goods inventory accuracy; build min/max and reorder point logic in Acumatica; drive cycle count programs and resolve variances.
• Identify and liquidate slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory, with dollar impact tracked and reported quarterly.
• Manage inbound freight — carrier selection, routing, cost, and on-time performance; support outbound logistics as needed in coordination with operations and customer service.
• Negotiate freight contracts and carrier agreements; deliver validated cost-per-unit reductions tracked against baseline and reported monthly.
• Manage import processes where applicable, including customs compliance for international raw material sourcing.
• Partner with Operations (Plant Managers) and Sales to align procurement and inventory plans with production schedules and customer commitments.
• Support new product introductions and capital equipment projects requiring sourcing of new materials or components.
• Provide supply chain input to annual budgeting and capital planning processes.
• Participate in Lean, continuous improvement, and Kaizen initiatives affecting supply chain processes.
• Build out the supply chain function — define roles, processes, and tools needed as the company grows; currently an individual contributor with cross-site influence, with potential to manage purchasing/inventory staff over time.
• Submit a 30-60-90 day assessment plan within the first two weeks, and a Year 1 savings roadmap with quantified targets within 60 days.
• Own and report monthly on supply chain KPIs (fill rate, lead time, PPV, inventory turns, freight cost per unit), reconciled with Finance before reporting.
• Maintain a Finance-reconciled savings tracker per initiative (baseline, action, dollar impact, validation); review monthly with VP of Operations and Controller, separating realized savings from pipeline.
• Deliver a quarterly business review on savings performance vs. target, with a corrective action plan for any shortfall

About the Role:

The Supply Chain Manager owns procurement, inventory management, and logistics across all operating locations (NC, NY, VT, SC, & OR) reporting to the VP of Operations. This role leads both the strategy and day-to-day execution of the company's supply chain function — ensuring material availability, cost control, vendor performance, and on-time delivery in a custom, make-to-order manufacturing environment. This is a new role representing a strategic investment in supply chain infrastructure as the company scales. Success is defined by hard-dollar, Finance-validated results that hit the P&L — not process activity or projected savings. The right candidate builds the function while delivering measurable results on a timeline measured in months, not years.

What You Will Do:

• ERP proficiency for purchasing, inventory, and reporting (Acumatica or similar)
• Financial and analytical fluency — able to build should-cost models, calculate and defend PPV, and validate savings directly with Finance
• A verifiable track record of quantified hard-dollar savings (not cost avoidance); candidates should be prepared to walk through specific, referenceable examples — dollar amount, method, and validation — in interviews
• Comfortable operating in a multi-site environment with regular travel to all facilities
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; able to influence without direct authority across sites

Preferred

• Experience in fastener, metals, steel distribution, or heavy industrial manufacturing
• Familiarity with import/customs processes for raw material sourcing
• APICS CSCP, CPIM, or equivalent supply chain certification
• Experience in a PE-backed or growth-by-acquisition environment operating under a tracked cost-reduction or EBITDA-improvement mandate
• Exposure to Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies

This will require regular travel to all facilities (NC, NY, SC, VT, OR) - 30-40% travel
