Job summary

J.B. Hunt in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Manager Trainee, May 2027, to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and best-in-class customer service.

You'll gain training on DOT compliance, supervising drivers, and collaborating with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads while developing reporting and financial analysis skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
• HS Diploma/GED with 1 year of management/ logistics experience, or equivalent military experience.
• Willing to travel to account locations when applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and carriers to set up new accounts and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special fleet optimization projects.
• Learn personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and employees.
• Develop reporting and financial analysis for customer locations and driver performance.
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform administrative duties such as payroll, budgeting, and pay issue resolution.
