Job summary

Charter Wire, part of Charter Manufacturing, offers a Milwaukee, WI Supply Chain Internship. You’ll assist with production planning, scheduling, and inventory management, balancing demand, capacity, and material availability.

Enrollment in a four-year degree in Supply Chain or related field, GPA 2.75+, MS Office proficiency, strong communication and teamwork, and the ability to work in a team are required. Schedule: 15–20 hrs/wk during the academic year; 40 hrs/wk in summer; start January 2027.

• GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; able to work in a team.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production performance, capacity utilization, inventory levels, and raw material availability to optimize schedules.
• Assist with raw material procurement and manage inventory supporting the manufacturing process.
• Perform routine inventory audits to validate system accuracy.
• Provide day-to-day support for Procurement and Planning teams with data analysis and process improvements.

About the Supply Chain Internship:

Support a fast-paced manufacturing environment by assisting with production planning, scheduling, and inventory management activities. The intern will gain hands‑on experience creating and maintaining production schedules for multiple manufacturing assets while balancing changing customer demand, production priorities, material availability, and capacity constraints.

Program structure:

• Schedule: Part‑time (15-20 hours/week) during the academic year and full‑time (40 hours/week) during the summer
• Location: Milwaukee, WI
• Start Date: January 2027
• Duration: Year‑round internship

What we're looking for:

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field with current status of at least a sophomore level
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Ability to succeed in a team environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks

Preferred experience:

• ERP experience
• Purchasing experience
• Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S tools

What you'll focus on:

• Monitor production performance, capacity utilization, inventory levels, and raw material availability to help optimize production schedules and support on‑time delivery
• Assist with raw material procurement activities and help manage inventory that supports the manufacturing process
• Perform routine inventory audits to validate system accuracy and identify discrepancies
• Provide day‑to‑day support for the Procurement and Planning teams by assisting with ad hoc projects, data analysis, process improvements, and other supply chain initiatives
