Job summary

Charter Wire, part of Charter Manufacturing, is seeking an engineering process internship in Milwaukee (Menomonee Valley). The role focuses on learning processes on the floor, troubleshooting, and leading process-improvement teams throughout the year.

Ideal candidates are engineering majors with at least sophomore standing, a 2.75 GPA, and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills. AutoCAD experience is preferred; manufacturing exposure is a plus. Internship runs year-round with varied hours.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a four-year engineering or related degree program and be at least a sophomore.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate and develop project estimates for operational business challenges at Charter Wire.
• Design solutions using AutoCAD (SolidWorks) with occasional 3D printing for part creation.
• Manage process data collection and analysis for project tracking and completion.

About the Process Engineer Internship:

Provide technical support to operations by spending time on the floor learning processes, troubleshooting, and leading and/or participating on multiple process improvement teams.

Program structure:

• Schedule: Part-time (15-20 hours/week) during the academic year and full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer
• Location: Milwaukee - Menomonee Valley
• Start Date: January 2027
• Duration: Year-round internship

What we're looking for:

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Engineering or a related field with current status of at least a Sophomore level
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Ability to succeed in a team environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Preferred experience:

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
• AutoCAD experience.

What you'll focus on:

• Investigate, evaluate and develop project estimates for a variety of operational business challenges at Charter Wire
• Design solutions to resolve challenges throughout the building via AutoCad (SolidWorks) part creation with occasional utilization of 3D printing
• Manage process data collection and analysis as part of project tracking and completion
