Job summary

Charter Steel in Saukville, WI is offering a Process Engineering Internship designed for students in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering. You will support manufacturing operations through data collection, root cause analysis, and Lean improvement projects, partnering with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence.

The program combines a part-time schedule during the academic year (15–20 hours/week) with a full-time summer commitment (40 hours/week), starting May 2027.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a four-year Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering program with Sophomore standing.
• GPA 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work in a team and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Work in the draw departments to improve production efficiency and product quality.
• Perform time studies and collaborate with operators to identify process improvements.
• Assist in process analysis and optimization and implement standards.

About the Process Engineer Internship

Gain hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations through root cause analysis, data collection and statistical analysis, and Lean continuous improvement initiatives. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to solve real-world engineering challenges and drive operational excellence.

Program structure

• Schedule: Part-time (15-20 hours/week) during the academic year and full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer
• Location: Saukville, WI
• Start Date: May 2027
• Duration: Year-round internship

What we're looking for

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or a related field with current status of at least a Sophomore standing
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Ability to succeed in a team environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Preferred experience

• Basic Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma Skills
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
