Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer II for a long-term contract in Detroit, MI. You will manage supplier performance, lead quality improvements, and conduct supplier audits to ensure product conformity.

The role requires 1–3 years in quality engineering, knowledge of GD&T and MSA, and experience with machining or forging. Travel 30–50% across the U.S. Midwest, East Coast, Mexico, and potentially international locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Chemical Engineering preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant quality engineering experience.
• Experience with machining and/or forging.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and MSA.
• Experience with quality tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone.

Responsibilities

• Manage supplier performance and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Resolve supplier quality issues to maintain production continuity.
• Lead supplier performance improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct supplier audits to verify product conformity and process compliance.
• Monitor key supplier quality KPIs including DPPM, quality complaints, and On-Time Ship (OTS).
• Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities with suppliers and internal teams.
• Utilize 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and other quality problem-solving methodologies.
• Oversee supplier containment actions to minimize impact of quality issues.
• Document investigations, dispositions, corrective actions, and quality complaint resolutions.
• Establish and support short- and long-term supplier quality goals.
• Partner with plant quality, operations, engineering, manufacturing engineering, and cross-functional teams.
• Present technical quality issues and corrective actions to suppliers and management.
• Support process standardization, waste elimination, Lean initiatives, and continuous improvement.

Job description

Immediate need for a talented Supplier Quality Engineer II. This is a Long-Term contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Detroit, MI (Onsite).

Key Responsibilities:

• Shift: Monday - Friday Second shift, 7:00 PM – 4:00PM .
• Manage supplier performance and ensure timely corrective actions.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Chemical Engineering preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant quality engineering experience.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, particularly machining and/or forging.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and MSA.
• Experience with quality tools such as:
• 8D
• 5-Why
• Fishbone
• AIAG quality standards
• Ability to understand metallurgical requirements and interpret technical reports.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues to suppliers and management.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to quality and corrective action.
• Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control).
• Experience with engine, axle, or transmission components.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as:
• Machining
• Casting
• Stamping
• Forging
• Experience managing quality with global suppliers.
• Experience working across different regions and cultures.
• Foreign language skills are a plus.
• Travel:
• Approximately 30–50% travel may be required.
• Travel is primarily throughout the U.S. Midwest, East Coast, and Mexico, with potential international travel to supplier locations in India, China, Europe, and Turkey depending on supplier quality issues.
