Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to serve as the primary liaison between manufacturing, the supply chain, and external suppliers to resolve quality issues. The role emphasizes audits, non-conformance handling, and SCAR closure to drive sustained quality improvements.

You will analyze field and warranty data, support containment plans, and work with engineering and service teams to implement corrective actions and lifecycle improvements across automotive, HVAC, or aerospace

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing non-conformance and SCAR processes.
  • Proficiency in FMEA, SPC, 8D, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: experience in automotive, aerospace, or HVAC manufacturing.
  • Preferred: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between the manufacturing facility, supply chain, and suppliers regarding quality issues.
  • Establish and maintain supplier quality performance metrics.
  • Conduct supplier audits.
  • Manage supplier-related non-conformance issues through root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Issue SCARs and ensure timely closure.
  • Assess impacts of non-conforming materials and develop containment plans.
  • Define and monitor supplier requirements for component storage and handling.
  • Oversee supplier warranty compliance and resolve warranty claims.
  • Track warranty and maintenance data to identify recurring issues.
  • Partner with service and commissioning teams on field installations, commissioning and field failures.
  • Analyze field failure data and implement corrective actions.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing between service teams and suppliers.
  • Drive design enhancements using quality, warranty, and field failure insights.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on quality and reliability improvements.
  • Provide feedback on component selection and lifecycle performance.
  • Create and refine supplier quality management processes.
  • Drive cross-functional engagement and maintain supplier quality documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with suppliers during new product development.
  • Review and approve supplier PPAPs and FMEAs.
  • Train internal stakeholders on supplier quality processes.
  • Foster collaborative supplier relationships

Requirements
