Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Summerville, SC is seeking a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to help ensure supplier delivery schedules and quality meet program requirements. You will audit suppliers, perform source inspections and first articles, and drive corrective actions with engineering and procurement teams.

The role requires DoD familiarity, ability to travel up to 50%, and strong knowledge of MS Office and reading drawings.

Qualifications

• Must be US citizen due to DoD requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of basic manufacturing principles and quality plans; PFMEAs and First Articles familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with engineering and procurement to ensure supplier compliance with contractual requirements.
• Evaluate and select suppliers to meet product and schedule requirements.
• Perform source inspections, first article inspections, and schedule reviews.
• Conduct supplier audits to qualify new suppliers and improve performance; identify deficiencies.
• Monitor and improve KPIs such as on-time delivery, first pass yield, compliance documentation, and cost of poor quality.
• Work with stakeholders to resolve supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with suppliers on quality problems and drive supplier quality improvement programs.
• Train suppliers to execute quality system processes and share lessons learned.

Job description

We are looking for a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to join our Summerville, SC location.

Your Challenge

Performs various analyses related to Supplier scope with focus on Supplier delivery schedule accuracy. Ensure that outsourced materials and processes meet quality and delivery standards by conducting supplier audits, source inspections, first articles, managing corrective actions, and monitoring key performance indicators. Identifies and develops new Suppliers through capability searches and assessments. Interfaces with engineering and Suppliers regarding Supplier issues of manufacturability. Interfaces with subject matter experts and Suppliers regarding Supplier issues with processes.

Salary:

$67,400-$97,400

Your Responsibilities

• Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to ensure supplier compliance with contractual requirements
• Evaluate and select suppliers based on their ability to meet product and schedule requirements
• Perform source inspections, first article inspections, and schedule reviews
• Conduct supplier audits to qualify new suppliers, improve existing supplier performance, and identify systemic deficiencies in quality and delivery
• Monitor, communicate, and improve key supply chain Key Performance Indicators, including Supplier On Time Delivery, First Pass Yield, Compliance Documentation and Cost of Poor Quality
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve supplier quality issues
• Collaborate with supplier representatives on quality problems, ensure corrective actions are implemented and contribute to supplier quality improvement programs
• Train suppliers to execute specific quality system processes and share lessons learned from internal manufacturing processes and experience

What You Bring

• Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals
• Knowledge of MS Office.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of basic manufacturing principles and quality plans. Knowledge First Articles, PFMEAs, etc.
• Experience with mathematical concepts (probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry) and apply concepts to practical situations.
• Experience with project planning software.
• Ability to travel for work up to 50% of time

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge in manufacturing processes Machining, welding, assembly of components, NDT, heat treating, etc.
• Experience with nuclear products and standards, FAR, DFARS desired
• Experience with government supplier or contract management desired
• Project Management experience desired
