Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Summerville, SC is seeking a Buyer, Associate to perform routine purchasing tasks under supervision, review requisitions and place orders with approved suppliers.

Responsibilities include evaluating bids, negotiating terms, following orders through to completion, and coordinating with accounting on invoices. Requirements include US citizenship and ability to obtain DoD security clearances, a bachelor’s in supply chain, and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required due to DoD requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances.
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business management or engineering.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment or supply chain is preferred.
• Knowledge of procurement planning and processes; computer literate with MS Office.
• Experience with Government contracting practices (FAR & DFARS) is an asset.

Your Challenge

Under close supervision, performs a variety of routine and/or low dollar value buying/purchasing tasks involving materials, supplies, or services. Reviews purchase requisitions and places orders with approved suppliers. May evaluate bids, select and/or recommend suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, quality and service. Follows up on all awards until completion of order. May assist in negotiations for major purchases by developing or compiling statistical information and gathering other data as required. Coordinates with the accounting department as required, resolving questions on suppliers' invoices.

Hourly: $25.30-$36.60

Your Responsibilities

What You Bring

• Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business Management or Engineering
• Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or supply chain
• Knowledge of material management functions which includes procurement planning and processes. Computer literate, including experience with MS Office
• Experience working with and knowledge of Government contracting practices, including hands‑on experience with the FAR & DFARS, contract negotiation, and related laws and regulations is an asset.
