Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role, you will manage the supplier qualification of coating, drilling, and assembly processes for gas turbine components, ensuring compliance with quality standards, deadlines, and cost parameters. You will provide technical support to suppliers and share responsibility for their qualifications, while also overseeing the development and industrialization of new production processes. Acting as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries and quality issues from both suppliers and internal partners, you will facilitate effective communication and collaboration. Additionally, you will serve as the technical interface between design/engineering and manufacturing, analyzing data to identify improvement potentials and initiate enhancements with our suppliers. As you gain experience, you will have the opportunity to engage in larger projects, further expanding your impact within the organization.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Contribute to decarbonization efforts by enhancing the efficiency of gas turbine components, aligning with global sustainability initiatives and reducing environmental impact.
  • Manage product and process qualifications (PPQ) and oversee the production of hot gas components at assigned suppliers, providing critical manufacturability feedback to design teams while evaluating manufacturing and delivery risks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) projects by meticulously tracking milestones and budgets, coordinating cross-functional efforts, and proactively mitigating risks and delays to achieve project objectives.
  • Utilize statistical data to drive improvements in supplier processes, focusing on reducing non-conformance costs and enhancing overall product quality and reliability.
  • Spearhead initiatives aimed at reducing costs and delivery times at coating suppliers, fostering stronger partnerships and optimizing supply chain efficiency.
  • Contribute to the technology roadmap and conduct feasibility studies for new designs and drilling processes, including the protection of parts and internal cavities at suppliers, ensuring alignment with industry advancements and operational capabilities.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a comparable field, providing a solid foundation for technical expertise in the industry.
  • Several years of technical experience in drilling processes, including laser and FHEDM, as well as drilling through base materials, ceramic coatings, and re-opening processes, ensuring proficiency in advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of thermal spraying processes (LPPS, LVPS, APS, HVOF), welding techniques (laser and WIG), brazing, and supplier management, contributing to a well-rounded skill set for effective collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Proven experience in project management, demonstrating the ability to lead and coordinate complex projects effectively within a dynamic environment.
  • Background in working with cross-functional teams, particularly in the context of turbine hot gas parts, fostering collaboration and driving innovation across disciplines.
  • Strong intercultural competence with a willingness to travel internationally (~25%), enhancing global collaboration and engagement with diverse suppliers and teams.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders across various regions and disciplines.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
