Job summary

Nashville State College is seeking Temporary Supplemental Instruction Leaders to plan and facilitate group study sessions for Nashville State students enrolled in targeted courses. SI Leaders support students in engaging with material during regularly scheduled sessions under the supervision of the Learning Center Coordinator.

Responsibilities include attending sessions, creating and submitting lesson plans, tracking attendance, coordinating with faculty, and guiding students to campus support

Qualifications

• Current Nashville State student with 15 credit hours completed and a 2.5 GPA in college-level coursework.
• Must have earned at least a B in MATH 1000, MATH 1010, or MATH 1530.
• Must have reliable internet connection for the role.

Responsibilities

• Attend all SI sessions and course lectures; take notes and model appropriate academic attitudes.
• Create lesson plans for SI sessions and prepare materials.
• Submit lesson plans and materials prior to SI sessions for approval.
• Submit attendance records and time sheets timely.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions to learn SI strategies.
• Hold additional SI sessions up to four times per semester.
• Meet with assigned faculty for up to 1.5 hours per month.
• Maintain professional communication with course instructors.
• Refer students to campus support services and report critical issues.
• Become familiar with classroom technology/resources.
• Complete program assessment surveys and administer surveys as needed.
• Check email and SI messaging system regularly.
