Job summary

Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Material Acquisition Element Chief, providing analytical support, technical expertise, and first-line supervision in the ordering, stocking, and maintenance of equipment, parts, and supplies.

(con't from Conditions of Employment) The duty of the employee is to provide support expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations. The employee could be deployed to support emergency operations, humanitarian missions, disaster relief, or other expeditionary missions in the continental United States or overseas, that are not considered "combat" locations. Employee must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition. As of Mar 2023, of employment. Position DOES NOT provide civilian support to combat operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-I, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-4 or equivalent in the Federal Service.
  • Specialized experience must include includes knowledge of comprehensive policies, regulations, and procedures governing civil engineering supply operations. Knowledge of federal personnel management regulations, policies, and practices.
EDUCATION:
  • Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
  • NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
  1. Knowledge of comprehensive policies, regulations, and procedures governing civil engineering supply operations.
  2. Knowledge of federal personnel management regulations, policies, and practices.
  3. Ability to supervise, mentor, and lead a subordinate workforce, including assigning work, evaluating performance, and ensuring equal employment opportunity and safety compliance.
  4. Skill in operating and maintaining automated acquisition, supply, and vehicle management data systems.
  5. Ability to accurately perform data entry, retrieve information, and compile statistical reports to support logistical operations. Ability to apply analytical methods and techniques to research, evaluate, and resolve complex supply chain, inventory, and equipment management problems.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to articulate complex logistical issues, provide excellent customer service, and establish strong working relationships with supported units, storage depots, and external agencies.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:

Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
