Duty Location: Shasta, California
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.
To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-08 level in federal service, demonstrating experience in:
Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard involving guard duties. Preferred candidates will have specialized experience in combat arms (e.g., infantry, armor, special operations) or combat support (e.g., military police, field artillery).
Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps), and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and skills relevant to employment. All qualifying experience will be credited.
You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors, by 04/28/2026.
All security guard personnel must meet the following Conditions of Employment:

Employees must complete an 8-10 week basic training at Grand Coulee, including classroom instruction, proficiency demonstrations, and periodic testing. Failure to pass will result in removal from federal service.
Prior to hiring and during employment, passing the Employment PT test is required, with a combined score of 100 points or higher across all categories. Annual testing is mandatory, with a 60-day window for retesting if needed. Failure to pass will lead to removal from service.
Position requires carrying a firearm. Candidates must certify no domestic violence convictions, verified through background checks. Firearm proficiency must be demonstrated upon training completion and annually; failure to do so will result in removal from the position.
