Position Overview

The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums, 14 education and research centers, and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Smithsonian Institution, Office of the Under Secretary for Finance and Administration, Office of Human Resources (OHR), Talent Management. This role oversees the personnel security program Smithsonian-wide. Join us in inspiring generations through knowledge and discovery!

Experience Requirements
  1. GS-14 Level: You qualify if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Service. This experience includes managing personnel security operations, providing leadership and direction to security staff, developing and implementing security policies, administering background investigations, and reviewing investigation reports.
  2. GS-15 Level: You qualify if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Service. This experience includes managing personnel security operations, leading security staff, developing policies, overseeing resource allocation, creating productivity metrics, and providing technical expertise for security administration and process improvements.
Additional Information

Experience includes paid and unpaid roles, volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps or AmeriCorps, and other organizational involvement. Volunteer experience is credited and valuable for skill development. Part-time or unpaid roles related to this position are also considered; be sure to note hours worked weekly.
