The pool operates seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Lifeguard services are essential to ensure the safety of all patrons during open swim hours, private functions, and instructional swim classes. As the Supervisory Lifeguard for the Whiteman AFB Outdoor Pool, you will responsible for the oversight, supervision, and periodic sustainment training of a team of lifeguards as well as for ensuring the safety and well-being of swimmers and guests at a pool. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring water activities, enforcing safety rules, providing immediate assistance during emergencies, and offering first aid when necessary. Finally, you will assist in maintaining the pool and surrounding areas in accordance with established standards.

What does a typical day look like for the Supervisory Lifeguard?

  • Continuously observe the swimming area to ensure the safety of patrons.
  • Ensure the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and that only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
  • Rescue swimmers in trouble, promptly administer first aid, and call for medical assistance if needed.
  • Perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operations of the swimming pool area to include, but not limited to:
    • Pool vacuuming.
    • Pool scrubbing.
    • Pool skimming (removing foreign objects from pool surface and bottom).
    • Disposing of trash in trash cans at the end of day or when the trash can is full.
    • Cleaning and sanitizing the pool deck, realigning deck chairs, and disposal of debris (empty water bottles, etc.) daily or as needed.
    • Clean bathroom facilities daily.
  • Conduct hourly water quality testing.
  • Add chemicals to pool water as appropriate and when directed by the Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Deal tactfully and courteously with customers, providing quality customer service.
