This is a non-benefits position.
Hourly pay for this position is: $12.50 without a HS Diploma or Equivalent and $12.50 per hour with HS Diploma or Equivalent.

The job of Lifeguard is done for the purpose of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for ensuring the safety of every patron; maintaining a sanitary and safe swimming pool and deck; providing basic instruction to students; and complying with mandated health requirements.
Essential Functions:Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Skills are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices and procedures; and administering first aid.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: first aid and CPR; rescue procedures; use of AED and first aid; and safety practices and procedures.
Ability is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: working as part of a team; exhibiting qualities of leadership and organizational ability; and cooperating with students, staff and school administration.
Responsibility: Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.
Work Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed under temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Experience: Job related experience is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Equivalency: Any combination of education, training, and/or experience which demonstrates ability to perform the required duties. Must be 16 years old.
