Job description

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications: You must possess one of the items listed below.

  • Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
  • Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
  • Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

  • Leading the development and execution of organizational priorities, performance improvement initiatives to advance the child support enforcement program, achieve measurable results, and ensure effective stewardship of program resources.
  • Providing executive-level technical assistance to States, Tribes, and/or local governments to ensure compliance with child support enforcement laws, regulations, policies, and program requirements while promoting consistent and effective program administration.
  • Developing and delivering executive-level written and oral communications, including policy interpretation, strategic recommendations, and presentations, to inform decision-makers, strengthen stakeholder partnerships, and support the implementation of child support programs.
  • Directing the work of staff by establishing organizational priorities, reinforcing accountability, developing leadership capacity, managing performance, and ensuring the effective execution of program goals and organizational objectives

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
