The Supervisor, Tutoring Services oversees the daily operations of Tutoring Services within the Prescott Center for Learning and Innovation (CLI) and directly supervises the Tutoring Specialist. This position provides direct academic support to students through drop-in and by-appointment tutoring and academic coaching, coordinates the embedded tutoring program, and supports campus centers across the district. The role expands outreach to Early College students, collaborates with the Verde Valley Learning Resources Supervisor to provide a consistent tutoring experience across CLI locations, and builds relationships with faculty to increase student referrals and embedded tutoring placements. The position also staffs the Information Services Desk and leads student engagement events such as Finals Fest. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends and travel to CLI-affiliated centers is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise tutoring staff, including scheduling, day-to-day guidance, professional development, and performance feedback.
- Provide by-appointment tutoring in writing and/or mathematics for a minimum of 10 hours per week and staff YC-affiliated campus centers, including Prescott Valley and CTEC, based on operational needs.
- Conduct outreach and represent Tutoring Services at student-facing events and activities, including Open House and Welcome Back events.
- Lead student engagement events such as Finals Fest, including planning, logistics, and execution.
- Coordinate and market the embedded tutoring program through faculty outreach, tutor placement, scheduling, and ongoing communication with instructional staff.
- Lead outreach to Early College students and connect them with tutoring resources.
- Collaborate with the Verde Valley Learning Resources Supervisor to ensure consistent tutoring experiences and service delivery across CLI locations.
- Build relationships with faculty to facilitate communication and expand opportunities for student tutoring support.
- Staff the Information Services Desk and provide reference and general assistance to help students navigate academic support services, technology tools, and campus resources.
- Compile statistics and reports on tutoring services, staffing, and outreach activities for departmental leadership.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure operations remain within the allocated budget.
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience
- One to two years of experience supervising staff or student workers.
- One to two years of experience tutoring or providing academic support in a high school, higher education, or comparable setting.
- Prior experience in tutoring, academic coaching, or student success work.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Subject-area proficiency in writing or mathematics sufficient to provide by-appointment and embedded tutoring at the college level.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated comfort with and willingness to use artificial intelligence tools in student-facing instruction and academic support contexts.
- Ability to obtain Academic Coaching certification within three months of hire.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt language and tone for various audiences and contexts.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and adapt quickly to changing needs, deadlines, and organizational priorities.
- Adaptability and openness to learning new skills, processes, technologies, and tutoring approaches.
- Technological competence and willingness to learn emerging tools related to learning innovation and educational technology.
- Comfort with public speaking, leading workshops, and having voice and/or face recorded for instructional or training purposes.
- Strong customer service mindset and dedication to supporting students, faculty, and staff effectively and empathetically.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development, including pursuing certifications and expanding subject-area knowledge.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to Prescott Valley, CTEC, and other CLI-affiliated centers; reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license are required.
- Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Experience
- Three or more years of experience supervising staff in a higher education setting.
- Experience with Early College programs, embedded tutoring models, or multi-campus service coordination.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Familiarity with Canvas LMS.
- Familiarity with LibCal or similar scheduling systems.
