Position Purpose:

Oversees the transportation department of one or more locations within assigned geography; providing leadership within the location(s) as assigned. Acts as the liaison between customer, operations, CSRs, and the support team.

Key Job Activities:
  1. Maintain and manage inventory supplies to ensure that adequate inventories are always maintained.
  2. Manage route scheduling to ensure all scheduled customers will be serviced by end of day. Redirect manpower and resources as required, in order to service customers on routes that may have operational difficulties (e.g., vehicle breakdown, vehicle accident, or fully loaded truck).
  3. Manage driver debrief process for every route. Ensure documentation (manifest, PDT receipt, etc.) for every customer transaction. Update route comments as required.
  4. Maintain high customer service standards as measured by key metrics (on-time, no missed stops, loyalty, etc.).
  5. Manage open order report to resolve service issues.
  6. Manage SAP cancellation process for customers canceling contracts before the CSA end date.
  7. Develop relationships with customers and establish contacts for accurate service feedback.
  8. Conduct customer visits to review service.
  9. Manage customer interaction records to resolve service issues.
  10. Monitor operations and staff, recommending changes in methods, procedures, structure, or personnel to optimize resources.
  11. Manage route vehicles, containers, load bars, straps, hand-trucks, PDTs, printers, and other equipment and assets.
  12. Monitor routes to improve efficiency.
  13. Perform "ride-alongs" to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality driver operations.
  14. Conduct "spot checks" to reinforce proper driver behavior and communicate value to customers.
  15. Complete daily yard walks.
  16. Track and input DOT hours/JJ Keller data.
  17. Administer company policies, communicate to staff, interpret, and ensure compliance and safety.
  18. Monitor employee performance for safety and productivity, recommending improvements as needed.
  19. Conduct regular safety meetings (monthly, etc.).
  20. Oversee and maintain Driver Qualification Files, DOT logs, and Vehicle Condition Reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:

Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.

Experience and Certifications:
  • 0-3 years supervisory experience.
  • Two or more years of transportation/logistics experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.
  • Current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, HIPAA, NAID regulations.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including spreadsheets and word processing.
