GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

Organize and supervise an efficient shipping department. Active supervision of his/her work team. Management of the Distribution Center building. Ensure daily planning of production shipments that optimizes the efficiency of our plant and trucking while meeting the delivery requirements of our customers. The incumbent will see approximately 60% of his/her tasks carried out in the office and 40% on the production floor.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure the effectiveness of daily truck scheduling.
  • Oversee coordination with transportation companies to ensure delivery schedules are established to maximize loads in an efficient sequence while meeting customer requirements.
  • Respond to customer service requests related to shipping
  • Inform the production team of issues or situations that may affect packaging and shipping performance
  • Make recommendations to meet the daily shipping schedule in order to meet cost, quality, delivery and service objectives.
  • Plan and manage workforce including discipline when required
  • Annual evaluation of his team
  • Develop and execute the annual plan for employee engagement
  • Develop SOPs
  • Conduct health and safety audits and follow-ups and Gemba Walk SQLIP
  • Propose and follow-up on improvements
  • Suggest and implement plans to help reduce the company's costs in terms of delivery and plant efficiency.
  • Review the delivery force to look for areas for improvement.
  • Implement, maintain and support all company policies and procedures, safety program and good housekeeping.
  • Produce daily reports on delivery on-time performance and identify ways to improve delivery on-time performance.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management.
QualificationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Skilled communicator, both written and verbal
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to prioritize well and work under pressure
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Work with integrity and respect while demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
Qualifications
  • Training in transportation and logistics
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience in transportation management
