Job summary

Duval County Public Schools is seeking a Supervisor of School Maintenance & Roofing in Jacksonville, FL. You will supervise roofing personnel, coordinate between schools, vendors, and engineers, and monitor roofing expenses to ensure project success.

The role requires leadership in planning roofing replacements, preparing scopes, and guiding contract services. A Bachelor's or equivalent experience in construction/maintenance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Building Construction, Management or related field. Experience can substitute education with a high school diploma.
• Four (4) years experience managing, planning and coordinating roofing repairs and replacements at a commercial level.
• A valid Florida driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment.

Job Summary

Supervises roofing personnel and activities relating to roofing. Coordinates maintenance and roofing services between schools, personnel, vendors, engineers, and contractors. Monitors maintenance and roofing expenses. Develop roofing replacement scopes and specifications.

Essential Functions

• Meets with school Principals to address roofing issues such as leaks gutters, roof replacements and roof appearances.
• Supervises and train assigned staff, conducts performance evaluations, makes employment and discipline recommendations, and coordinates work assignments.
• Conduct school roofing insprections and provide feedback to schools.
• Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates roofing replacement and maintenance. Work with roofing personnel, schools, and service providers.
• Reviews and monitors work performed by contractors and meets with contractors to resolve problems. Advises the Contract Services Supervisor on service issues and events.
• Prepares and reviews monthly mainteance and roofing reports to quantify and verify productivity and cost compliance. Evaluates program efficiency and effectiveness.
• Prepares operating budgets, authorizes and monitors expenses, and prepares fianancial reports and summaries.
• Prepares and assists in preparation of reports, studies, and contract documents.
• Reviews and provides input on district desgn guidelines, drawings, and specifications.
• Assists in the development, review, implementation, and interpretation of departmental policies.
• Prepares school roofing mainteance schedule to include adverse weather plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred in Building Construction, Management or related field, from an accredited college or university. Experience can be substituted for post‑secondary education with a required high school diploma.

Experience

Required: Four (4) years experience managing, planning and/or coordinating roofing repairs and replacements at a commercial level.

Licensing/Certification/Registration

A valid Florida driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of basic facilities maintenance, repair, and construction principles, practices, methods, and procedures
• Knowledge of Uniform Building Code and State Requirements for Education Facilities (SREF) rules, regulations, and procedures
• Knowledge of roof types applications, materials, and commercial level industry standards application.
• Knowledge of management and administrative principles, methods, techniques, and practices
• Strong supervisory skills
• Strong word processing, spreadsheet, software skills
