Job summary

North Vista Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, seeks an experienced Respiratory Care Practitioner to join the Cardiopulmonary Services team in North Las Vegas, NV. The role provides diagnostic testing, arterial blood gas analyses, and ventilator support to pediatric through adult patients, ensuring high-quality patient care.

Required is an active RCP license, NBRC-registered or eligible, and BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications with 5 years of acute/subacute respiratory care experience; NICU

Qualifications

  • Active Respiratory Care Practitioner license in state
  • NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist or eligible within 3 months
  • BLS certification current
  • ACLS certification current
  • PALS certification current or within 60 days of hire
  • NRP certification current
  • 5 years acute/subacute respiratory care experience
  • NICU experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Directs Cardiopulmonary Services staff and activities
  • Performs arterial blood gas analysis and related diagnostic testing
  • Operates respiratory equipment including ventilators
  • Educates patients and families about respiratory care
  • Supports daily operations and escalates issues to Manager/Director

Responsibilities

Leads and directs the technical personnel, activities, and equipment of the Adult Cardiopulmonary services. Promotes healing of acutely ill patients whose cardiac or pulmonary systems have been compromised through illness or injury through the provision of respiratory care, diagnostic testing, providing for the psycho-social needs of the patient, and patient education. Encourages and enhances the progression and efficient operation of the Cardiopulmonary Services Department. Treats patients from newborn, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle, and older adults. When requested, assists day-to-day operations of the Cardiopulmonary Department, referring out-of-the –ordinary issues to the Manager and/or Medical Director, as appropriate. Provides diagnostic testing to the patient to help optimize the total care given. Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis; knowledge in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control of ABG analyzers. Abilities to use mechanical ventilators, bi-level ventilation equipment, peak flow meters, ability to perform respiratory assessment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current or obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of acute or subacute respiratory care experience as respiratory care practitioner required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in NICU preferred.
