Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Supervisor for the Patient Flow and Staffing Office to lead daily operations, coordinate bed management, and optimize throughput across campuses.

The role collaborates with medicine, nursing, staffing, and case management to ensure safe, efficient patient care and real-time interventions. A BSN or related field is required with strong communication and problem solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required in Nursing, Management, Business administration, Healthcare or Public Administration, Public Health, Social Work, or related field.
• 3 years experience in nursing and 2 years experience in healthcare supervision, administration, or hospital operations.
• Demonstrated creative problem solving with ability to synthesize evidence based best practice in a variety of settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-driven leader with high level of interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead work groups and projects.

Summary

The Supervisor Patient Flow and Staffing Office is responsible for daily operational, process, and performance management of the enterprise-wide Patient Flow and Staffing Office. Specifically, the Supervisor will collaborate with colleagues and leaders from medicine, nursing, staffing, patient logistics, case management, utilization review, environmental services, emergency communications, emergency medical services, and operations across all campuses on a daily basis to optimize and coordinate patient care. This includes oversight of staffing and patient logistics staff, including bed management. Collaborates with the Transfer Center to help facilitate throughput. This position also has responsibility for hospital capacity monitoring and root-cause analysis of problems to drive real-time interventions and solutions and to facilitate safe, efficient, and quality patient care throughout the system. The Supervisor will have an integral role in the oversight and strategy development of the Patient Flow and Staffing Office, focusing both on daily operations and ongoing performance improvement and quality assurance.

Job Duties

• Responsible for providing leadership to, and direct oversight of, staffing and patient logistics colleagues.
• Expedite, prioritize, synchronize, and mediate issues or barriers related to patient throughput, serving as an escalation point for problem resolution.
• Continually work to improve operating mechanisms within the Command Center and foster collaboration and issue resolution amongst the multidisciplinary teams within the center.
• Identify process improvement strategies to improve patient flow, system balance, and management of surge volumes.
• Represent the capacity command center in campus operations huddles and lead system capacity huddles as needed.
• Provides a visible, professional leadership presence for the capacity command center by partnering with leadership from the inter-professional teams to collaboratively foster a positive, team-based work environment.
• Manage additional projects as they relate to staffing, patient throughput and hospital operations.
