Job summary

MercyOne Genesis Aledo Medical Center is hiring a Supervisor for Patient Access. This role oversees the daily operations and staff within outpatient registration, admissions, and financial counseling, ensuring timely patient processing and accuracy.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in Pre-service/Patient Access with supervisory responsibilities and is prepared to obtain HFMA CRCR, NAHAM CHAA/CHAM within the first year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience in Pre-service or Patient Access with supervisory responsibilities.

As a Supervisor in Patient Access at MercyOne , you will Frontline, department-based role that supervises daily functions of assigned area(s). Provides clear direction & manages /advancespeople, processes, structures & / or programs that support direct / indirect care. Demonstrates behaviors in alignment with culture & creates / supports comprehensive strategies & measures progress to achieve desired outcomes.

• Responsible for the daily operations & the oversight of staff.
• Supervisors work in collaboration with department managers to manage staff & department effectively.
• Participates in & contributes to the performance management/review process.
• Implements departmental plans & priorities identified by accountable leaders.
• May participate & recommend in the hiring & selection process.

Supervisor, Pre-service

• Ensures adequate controls are maintained over cash collections & that payments are properly handled by hospital policy & are accurately recorded & promptly forwarded to the Cashiers Office

• Coordinates investigation & appropriate resolution of problems from patient/family or staff complaints.

• Resolves patient questions regarding payment requirements/charges referred by scheduling & verification team colleagues.

Supervisor, Patient Access

• Maintains & demonstrates knowledge to successfully supervise each functional area of the hospital including, but not limited to all outpatient registration points, emergency room registration, admissions, bed assignment & financial counseling.

• Regularly monitors the patient tracking system, registration reports & financial clearance activities to ensure patients are registered within key performance standards.

• Monitors all financial clearance activity ensuring all accounts are verified at time of service & meet medical necessity requirements.

• Coordinates investigation & appropriate resolution of problems from patient/family or staff complaints .

• Resolves patient questions regarding payment requirements/charges referred by the registrars.

• Provides operational guidance & support to assigned team , disseminates policy/procedure updates , supports coverage of other departmental divisions as required .

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Two (2) to three (3) years experience working in a Pre-service or Patient Access operations with supervisory or lead responsibilities.

• Obtain National certification in HFMA CRCR, NAHAM CHAA & / or NAHAM CHAM required within one (1) year of hire.
