Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to oversee phlebotomy operations across multiple sites in Manchester and surrounding outpatient clinics. You will supervise staff, ensure accuracy from specimen collection onward, and focus on patient and customer service.

Responsibilities include scheduling, onboarding, training, maintaining documentation, and preparing the annual budget with the Laboratory Support Manager. Travel to outpatient sites is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in medical or biological science preferred.
  • ASCP Certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of laboratory experience required.
  • Previous lead or supervisor experience preferred.
  • Must be flexible with the primarily 8:00 AM–4:30 PM schedule.
  • Full-time availability: 40 hours per week.
  • Travel to all outpatient sites in Manchester, Londonderry, Hooksett and Bedford as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations of and coordinate activities within phlebotomy and/or support departments.
  • Focus on patient, client, and staff needs while ensuring accuracy from specimen collection onward.
  • Oversee activities through observation and daily review.
  • Focus on customer service and prioritize, identify, and resolve problems.
  • Oversee personnel scheduling for adequate coverage and efficient staffing.
  • Oversee orientation and training of new personnel, nurses, PCTs, MAs, and students.
  • Maintain documentation of orientation and training activities.
  • Ensure maintenance of staff competency.
  • Resolve staff behavior, performance, and daily operational issues; inform the Laboratory Support Manager.
  • Develop staff skills to build a team atmosphere.
  • Review, revise, and write policies and procedures.
  • Document personnel performance evaluations, counseling, and disciplinary action.
  • Prepare and adhere to the yearly budget with the Laboratory Support Manager.
  • Maintain bench skills to function efficiently in designated areas.
  • Oversee off-site phlebotomy locations and Traveling Phlebotomy Services, including staff activities.
  • Ensure all locations are up to date for state inspections with the Laboratory Support Manager.
  • Coordinate daily activities for all phlebotomy stations and collections performed by the Traveling Phlebotomy team.
  • Interact with clients as needed, working with Business Development and Clinical Specialist.
