Job summary

Commercial Metals (CMC) seeks a skilled maintenance professional to join our Cayce, SC team. You will lead maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence while supporting production goals.

You’ll review procedures, mentor technicians, and coordinate with operations to sustain reliable equipment and continuous improvement. CMC offers strong benefits, training, and a path to advancing within a Fortune 500 company.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years maintenance experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience with Preventative/Planned Maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Experience with welding machines, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic equipment and cooling systems.
  • Ability to read electrical, hydraulic and mechanical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of computers and computer software.

Responsibilities

  • Regular safety, quality, customer feedback and financial information meetings with maintenance team members.
  • Review safety requirements and identify potential hazards.
  • Assign technicians to appropriate jobs based on skills and training needs.
  • Review planned job packages for completeness and correctness.
  • Ensure technicians understand job details and provide clarification as needed.
  • Make tactical decisions to stay close to schedule.
  • Distribute time and materials to jobs accurately with proper work orders.
  • Initiate corrective work orders from inspections or other sources.

What You'll Do
  • Regularly holds safety, quality, customer feedback and financial information meetings with maintenance team members
  • Reviews safety requirements and points out potential hazards that may exist
  • Ensures, at the start of the shift and throughout the day, the prompt assignment of technicians to specific jobs which are appropriate to their possessed skills and/or to their training needs
  • Reviews available planned job packages for completeness and correctness
  • Confirms the technician knows what, where, how, why, and when for each job providing the opportunity for clarification
  • Makes the tactical decisions necessary: staying as close to schedule as possible
  • Assures accurate distribution of time and materials to specific jobs together with good feedback including proper work order entries
  • Assures that any necessary corrective work orders stemming from inspections and other sources have been initiated
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 5 years maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Experience with Preventative/Planned Maintenance processes and procedures and ability to develop procedures and schedules preferred
  • Experience working with and maintaining welding machines, hydraulic equipment, mechanical equipment, pneumatic equipment and cooling systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic and mechanical schematics
  • Working knowledge of computers and computer software
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Profession (CMRP) certification preferred
Your Education
  • College, technical trade, and/or military training/education preferred
